Paint the old façade in green
Avoid to see the old black tone
Soon the old rust will appear
Analyze why it happens
Paint again but now in red
Even apply now two coats, two coats
No, my friend, don’t be surprised
Begin to scratch the wall
Rust flakes falling over your face
Take breath and try again
A hammer is all that you need
Just hit and hit again
Until your harms really hurt
Shit! All this wall is rust!
Why we’re painting it again and again?
What kind of view
Hides the rusty wall
Darkest facts you will find behind
Hell! How the fuck raised up the wall?
Hell! And we just criticize the tone
Change, what change is which that nothing changes
Changes, so that nothing changes
Changes, just to hide that nothing changes
Changes to hide that nothing changes
Look the cracks in the wall
Sitting patiently in front of it
Focus your mind to observe
It falls to pieces by itself
What should be built instead
Just free your mind and let...
Just free you, free your mind and let...
The real change arise in your head
Changes to change
Like a wave flooding the old ways
Changes ahead
New foundations aiming to rebuild
Free of old grime
Change to change as supposed to be
Change is to change
The change is to change
The change is to change

This is the very pinnacle of the band's work. The amount of great songs is staggering.
They don't experiment excessively, but what they do sticks forcefully in my mind. I can't single out a single best song, cause there's too much of them - The Cavernous Deep, Nonextence, Grit, Among Ashes and Monoliths and even Black waters have all set places in several of my playlists. This album hit me off guard, and it hit strong. One of the best in 2021 steeplejack
