An odd evolution, some are trending to
Longer index fingers, than the middle ones
Like Pinocchio’s nose grows, by telling lies
Forefingers grow, pointing out the mote
Mote on brothers eye
Mote on brothers eye
Mote on brothers eye
That’s the way to feel better
By “defeat” of your neighbour
Instead of valuate your merits up
And despite the good they could have
You criticize, you point your finger to
Those who you consider a menace
Used like a sword, used like a spotlight
(to) ward off ghosts, (to) try to put them down
Mediocrity as the background
To care about, to care about
The others life is reason enough to take them down
Reaching out the control, sucking up to be,
The camera of the big brother, judge and jury too
Holy inquisition, faithful seer and tool
Train you biggest finger
Pointing out the rest
Pointing out the rest
Mote on brothers eye
Mote on brothers eye
The guardian of the moral
From the pulpit watch to the world
Nothing your big digit cannot point on
Criminal mind, long finger as a weapon
Deformity, abnormal punishment tool
Builder of blames, mediocrity you lie on
Builder of blames, long fingers bending the world

This is the very pinnacle of the band's work. The amount of great songs is staggering.
They don't experiment excessively, but what they do sticks forcefully in my mind. I can't single out a single best song, cause there's too much of them - The Cavernous Deep, Nonextence, Grit, Among Ashes and Monoliths and even Black waters have all set places in several of my playlists. This album hit me off guard, and it hit strong. One of the best in 2021 steeplejack
